LSU’s top CB suspended for Alabama game

first_imgBATON ROUGE – LSU’s best defensive weapon for Alabama’s best offensive weapon will not play tonight when the No. 14 Tigers host No. 4 Alabama at 7 in Tiger Stadium.Sophomore starting cornerback Rashard Robinson has been suspended and will not play, a relative of Robinson said Saturday when asked to confirm the original story of Robinson’s suspension by the Baton Rouge Advocate.Details of Robinson’s suspension, including the length of it, were not immediately available. Robinson, the No. 26 cornerback in the nation out of Blanche Ely High in Pompano Beach, Fla., in 2013, has had academic issues. He was unable to report to LSU for practice until less than a week before the 2013 season opener as the NCAA Clearinghouse reviewed his high school transcript. Robinson was also suspended for the opener against Wisconsin this season for unspecified reasons. At 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds, Robinson has been regarded for two seasons as the Tigers’ most talented cornerback and has usually drawn the other team’s best receiver. He was expected to be on Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper, who is No. 2 in the nation with 1,132 yards on 71 catches this season, in tonight’s game. Robinson played in 12 games last season and started two. He started six of eight games this season and has 17 tackles with one for loss and a pass breakup.Junior Jalen Collins, who has started three games in his career but has played in 35, is expected to start in Robinson’s spot. Either Robinson or sophomore cornerback Tre’Davious White will cover Cooper, who has accounted for nearly half of all of Alabama’s receiving yards and receptions.“Oh yeah, I’d love the opportunity,” Collins said on Tuesday when asked about covering Cooper. “Everyone wants that challenge. He has really good releases. He’s real quick. He’s made it tough on people, so we’re going to do the best we can.”Before Robinson’s suspension, White said he was preparing to cover Cooper along with Robinson.“He’s the most complete and polished receiver that I’ve seen in a while,” White said. “It will be a big time challenge for us.”last_img read more

first_imgKlopp: A new deal? I need to win titles for Liverpool firstby Paul Vegas10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveLiverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reluctant to discuss the future beyond his current contract.Klopp’s present deal runs to 2022.He said, “I don’t want to think that far ahead. If you write that already, a lot of people will speak. Everything is good at the moment, but still, ‘Klopp didn’t win anything’.”I haven’t won anything so that’s part of the truth, we don’t have to think about 2022, it’s a long way to go. In the summer, there will be people who say it’s the best time for me to go if we win something because we will never win anything again, there will be other people who say I have to go if we don’t win anything.”As long as we all enjoy the ride here, and I mean all – from the owners, the players to the supporters, to everyone around the club – we can try it and try it, but at the moment if one of those groups isn’t happy any more, then we shouldn’t stretch it and say ‘come on, try to do it’.”It’s a good time, and 2022 is a long time so I don’t have to think about it hopefully, everything will be fine and then we can think about that.” TagsTransfersAbout the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your saylast_img read more

Addressing BJP workers at his Aligarh residence on March 23, Singh reportedly said, “All of us are BJP workers and we want the party to win. We want Modiji to become the prime minister. It is necessary that Modiji becomes the prime minister again”. Singh made these remarks to placate some agitated BJP members who had gathered outside his house over ticket distribution.
