Colombia to invest 7 million dollars to upgrade digital infrastructure

The Ministry of Information Technology and Communication also said that the IT firms who want develop apps and software for the tourism sector can avail the funding.“The best proposals will receive funding, support, and technological knowledge to build apps,” said David Luna, Minister of Technology.Keeping the dramatic increase in flight and hotel bookings online, the minister said that those who ignore the need to adopt new technologies would risk lagging far behind their competitors.According to reports by local media, tour agencies in Colombia are growing by an average of 7% in revenue growth and a total contribution of US$ 5.6 billion by the foreign tourists to country’s economy every year.In 2010, we had 2 million internet connections.
